VINCENT L.F.396 from The Black Hole (Disney – 1978) printed model

Dear all, welcome to another buid. This time is the robot V.I.N.CENT (Vital Information Necessary CENTralized) from Disney’s The Black Hole (1979)- It is a small, smart, and optimistic floating utility robot with a spherical body, laser blasters, and a drill

I printed from a file that I found on Thingiverse, V.I.N.Cent. The Black Hole Action Figure – 5251828 , Here is the link.

These are all the parts printed with my Creality Ender Neo 3.

A lot of work for making all the surfaces smooth but in the end I primered and then I applied a coat of GSW Filler Primer from “Green Stuff World”. It was great for reflatting all the surfaces but be aware that the coat should be the thinnest possible because the material expands a bit and with thicker coats it cracks after curing, one thing that I experienced myself.

Then I started to work the Head and the body with shaded of RED and Light Grey mixed with steel to have a sparkling sensation. Unfortunately the sparkling is not much visible. In the more recessed parts I applied Black. Between the head and the body I added a gasket to have the head raided a bit, though keeping the possibility to rotate it.

Then I worked around for a base. I found a rectangular piece of wood and I just added a brass rod for the stand. the one printed looked very simple and fragile. I painted the base with gloss dark grey and left the rod unpainted.

After a coat of Transparent Gloss I added a minimum of weathering and then I applied the decals. You can see the stand completed too.

For the decals I found online some decals for a different model and, as usual I worked a bit to redo them in Coreldraw, most of all I redid the entire screen in the belly of Vincent. The PDF file, the original file and the Corel file are available HERE if you are interested.

Some final tweaks to get rid of the white parts around the screen, to make the eyes more white and with a glossy finsh and some other little details like lines, lights and trying to define better the “hands” of Vincent, and here is the final result, after a coat of matte transparent.
